Private Palace, Middle East

MHZ has been asked to develop a contemporary Interior Design concept for the entrance hall of a Private Palace with the use of Arabic calligraphy to define the architecture.

As one of the most typical expressions of the Islamic spirit and a fundamental decorative element of all forms of Islamic/Arabic art, Calligraphy integrates a cultural language with the language of geometry and combines sacred meaning with creative making.

Arabic calligraphy’s visual structures and its conceivable spatial dimensions makes it a dynamic and versatile language for the conveyance of form and space as well as meaning.

We used this ancient Art for decorative surfacing of the walls with complex patterns and in a circular form of continuous lettering as central floor pattern. A rhythmical and poetic interpretation of calligraphy in Arabic architecture
